Key Responsibilities

Sample Analysis & Laboratory Operations
 

•  Perform microbiological testing of food, water, and environmental samples using approved standard methods (FSSAI, BIS, APHA, ISO, etc.).

•  Prepare culture media, reagents, and other laboratory materials in accordance with approved protocols.

•  Conduct tests including Total Plate Count, Coliform, E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, Yeast & Mould, and other specified microbiological parameters.

•  Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, ensuring calibration and readiness.

•  Ensure sample integrity, proper labelling, storage, and chain of custody from receipt to disposal.

Quality and Documentation

•  Maintain accurate and complete test records, laboratory notebooks, and analytical worksheets in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.

•  Follow and uphold all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality management system (QMS) requirements.

•  Participate in internal and external proficiency testing programmes and inter-laboratory comparisons.

•  Report non-conformances, raise corrective action requests, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

•  Assist in the preparation and review of test reports, certificates of analysis, and supporting documentation.

Compliance & Safety

•  Adhere strictly to laboratory biosafety protocols and good microbiological practice (GMP/GLP).

•  Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of biological materials, chemicals, and waste in accordance with applicable regulations.

•  Remain current with relevant regulatory standards, including FSSAI guidelines and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 updates.
 

Qualifications & Requirements
 

•  M.Sc. / B.Sc. in Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Applied Microbiology, or a closely related life science discipline.

•  0–3 years of laboratory experience; freshers with strong practical training are encouraged to apply.

•  Working knowledge of standard microbiological techniques and aseptic practices.

•  Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 quality management requirements is an advantage.

•  Proficiency in maintaining laboratory records and generating test reports.

•  Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

•  Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Malayalam.
